Golf in Los Cabos is played along two bodies of water…. the Sea of Cortez or the Gulf of California and the Pacific Ocean.  Depending on what time of year you visit, the temperature can run about 10 degrees cooler on the Pacific Ocean side than it is on the Sea of Cortez side.  Cabo is a year-round destination, so if you decide to travel in the hotter months of July or August, the cool breezes off the ocean make this one of our more popular experiences.

Eighteen holes sit among some of the most dramatic sand dunes in the world. “You’re either playing toward the ocean, along the ocean or away from the ocean,” says course designer Davis Love III. “And then, at times, you’re down in the dunes and you pop up and are surprised all over again by the incredible views of the ocean.”

The Dunes is more than just a pretty course. As part of the Dunes experience, players enjoy state-of-the-art practice facilities, a Slider Bar with mini sandwiches and refreshments before tee time, and additional small plates and libations at Diamante’s signature course-side comfort stations. A golfer’s dream course is taking shape on the gently sloping sand dunes along the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Envisioned by Greg Norman Golf Course Design, Rancho San Lucas’ 18-hole golf course is destined to become Cabo San Lucas’ premier golfing destination utilizing innovative technology and sustainable practices.

The extraordinary setting alone indicates that this isn’t just any other golf course, with its spectacular views of desert and ocean. The course promises a challenging game with higher desert areas and lower links areas with six holes along the ocean and a signature island green on hole 17. Thanks to an exquisite design by golf legend Greg Norman, the golf course will embody the native allure of its environment, almost as if the Pacific Ocean had long been waiting for it to emerge from the dunes so it could lap its waves against it. The topography of the area, full of short ups and downs created by the dune environment, lends itself to playful design features, enabling a mix of challenges for golfers.

Showpiece of a 2,800-acre resort and residential project with 3.2 miles of beachfront, Cabo Real Golf Club features a multi-themed, target-style course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. The recent reversal of the club’s nines have greatly enhanced the layout’s flow and drama.

In its current configuration, Cabo Real’s front nine, completely refashioned by Jones from a pre-existing layout, provides a scenic, gentle test with broad fairways tumbling down to the Sea of Cortes, notably at the short par-4 fifth, which plays across an arroyo en route to the beach. The par-3 6th hole, is propped up on a seaside bluff, which looking back will reward you with a view of endless palm trees and beautiful white sand beach.

With breathtaking holes chiseled into desert foothills at the foot of rugged mountain peaks, Cabo Real’s longer back nine presents a great test of golf. Free-form bunkers and small, elevated greens combine with fairways that play along ridge tops, to provide an expansive feel.
